WWE Royal Rumble 2025 Preview and Predictions

The 2025 Royal Rumble is just around the corner and is the second most anticipated premium live event of the year. This year's card and Rumble matches are already being tipped as having the potential to be the best ever.

Of course the most anticipated part of the Royal Rumble event are both of the mens and womens Rumble matches. From returns to debuts, you never know what to expect.

The Royal Rumble takes place on Saturday 1st February. You can find the full match card, predictions, start times and how to watch here.

Match Card

Cody Rhodes v Kevin Owens: WWE Championship Ladder Match

Rhodes and Owens will go one on one in a ladder match for the WWE Title. The American Nightmare and KO have been locked in to an intense feud over the past few weeks in the build up to this match.

Both the WWE title and Winged Eagle title will be suspended above the ring which is an interesting factor in itself. It’s unclear what WWE’s plan for the winged eagle title is, but fans wouldn’t be against it becoming the standard WWE title going forward.

Despite such a back and forth buildup, it seems likely that Rhodes will walk out of the Rumble as Champion. Owens has been playing his part in a solid feud but will likely fall short on February 1st.

Prediction: Rhodes Retains.

DIY v Motor City Machine Guns: Tag Team Championship 2 out of 3 falls match

A real treat for the fans as this ‘banger’ of a tag team contest was added to the card on SmackDown. DIY and MCMG are guaranteed to tear the house down next weekend.

Two of the best tag teams in the game will meet in a 2 out of 3 falls match - one that isn’t a regular match type either. It’s fantastic to see the Tag Team titles finally defended on a PLE.

A tough match to call with either team really having an equal chance to win. An unpredictable outcome, however I think that the Motor City Machine Guns will finally reclaim their gold.

No matter the outcome, the real winners of this match will be the fans. This has all the potential to be a show stealer.

Prediction: Motor City Machine Guns Win Tag Team Championships

Womens Royal Rumble

Unlike the mens Rumble, not many female competitors have officially declared for the match itself at the time of writing. Personally, in previous years the Womens Rumble matches have delivered a lot more than the mens.

More surprises, more shocks and more drama. That is what this match is all about and I expect this year to be no different.

In terms of surprises this year, I’d look at the likes of Nikki Bella, Mickie James, Gail Kim and Jordynne Grace. I think WWE will have a lot of surprises up their sleeves in terms of returns with the likes of Becky Lynch due back on TV any moment now.

It’s very hard to call the winner of this years women's rumble, with a number of options that make sense. However, I’m going to go with Charlotte Flair

Flair will likely then go on to face Tiffany Stratton at Wrestlemania 41 for the Womens Championship.

Mens Royal Rumble

A huge mens Rumble awaits. John Cena, CM Punk, Roman Reigns and more are already confirmed for this years match.

In some ways, with so many superstars declaring it ultimately ruins the fun of the match. However, with such big names locked in you ensure people will be turning on their TV’s to catch the action.

Similarly to the womens rumble match, I expect a few surprise entrants this year. An appearance from Joe Hendry, a return for Jeff Hardy following WWE’s partnership with TNA and a return for Aleister Black, most recently known as Malakai Black in AEW.

It’s hard to call the winner but with all of the hype surrounding his farewell tour, I think John Cena will win the Rumble. He will then go on to challenge Cody Rhodes at Mania with that match already being reportedly outlined for Las Vegas.

Start Time & How To Watch

For fans in the United States, the Royal Rumble has a special start time of 6pm Eastern/5pm Central/3pm Pacific on Saturday 1st February.

Fans in the United Kingdom will be pleased to know that the event begins at 11pm also on Saturday 1st February.

In Europe, the event will begin early into Sunday 2nd February. 12am in Central Europe and 1am in Eastern Europe.

Royal Rumble 2025 will be available to watch on Peacock in the States whilst other worldwide territories will catch the action exclusively on Netflix.

The Netflix coverage of WWE has been fantastic so far, with the RAW premiere being one of the best episodes in some time.

You won’t want to miss the action from this years Royal Rumble which promises to be one for the ages as we begin the Road to WrestleMania 41.
